This book is the 5th cecelia ahern's books that i'd read, and the 4th that i owned. ( i have 'P.S i love you','If You Could See Me Now', and 'A Place Called Here' in my collection.hehe). If you don't know, I'm a big Cecelia Ahern's fan and hope to collect all her books. So far, i think, there's only one book by her that i havent read yet, but hope to, soon (can someone give me dat as a gift?hehe). and the title is,"The Gift".
About 'thanks for the memories', for me, it is not my favorite and it is not the best book by cecelia, but it is still significantly good and meaningful, just like all her books.
This time, the story evolves about two living person, Joyce and Justin, who were at the beginning are held back in life, being tormented by tragedies in their life. Both of them are total strangers, with Joyce in Ireland and Justin in New York(i think). Justin is someone who always believe in logic and scared of needles, but somehow, he donated his blood in ablood bank in Ireland, where he came as a lecturer.
Somehow, he was very proud of that, thinking that he had saved someone's life and the person should repay him by:
1. Giving him a basket of muffins with 'thank you' note on it
2. Do his laundry
3. Sent him a driver
4. etc
By chance, they bumps into one another few times, and somehow they felt some strange connection between them, a connection that is really strong. for justin, he felt like he was attracted to Joyce, but for Joyce, it was more than that.
Joyce, who had just being saved from an incident, after a while, she began to get knowledges she never had, seeing places and memories she never had has before, and she become multillingual all the sudden. And all of it related accurately to Justin. She feels like she knew him, all of him eventhough they had never met. Eventually, she believed that she got Justin's blood, and from his blood she got all of the stuff. and she saw a secret that Justin kept since he was a kid, only to himself.
After that... i think you should buy the book and find out on your own, or i'll be sue by the author. hehe.
Overall, i cried and laugh and smile while reading this book. it did have a nice, sweet feeling to it, thought at the beginning it is a bit slow and confusing. but dont worry, as the plot developed, it will become more intresting. Just one thing: focus while reading or you wont understand, because somehow, it is quite complex.
The best part: the ending. very good and sweet. i can't help grinning.
i give this book 3.5 star out of 5. recommended for those who like sweet stories, romance, and illogical stuff.
*just my own opinion and view. i'm not a professional, juz a book lover*
till next time. bye2!!
